For the second year in a row Stress Engineering Services
has been named one of the “Best Companies To Work For In Texas”
January 29, 2009 – For the second consecutive year, employee-owned Stress Engineering Services has been named one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Texas” by the Texas Association of Business, the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and Best Companies Group. Stress was rated the #3 medium-sized ( 75 to 249 employees ) firm among the 100 companies selected in the annual survey.
“This third-party benchmarking shows that employee ownership and a strong focus on excellence in high-performance energy engineering are the right formula in today’s economic and energy industry environment,” said Stress CEO Joe Fowler.
In addition to being employee-owned, the “Best Companies” profile noted that Stress is a flat organization with few titles and flexible hours, that all employees participate in company profits, and that a PhD psychologist/job coach helps employees deal with workplace conflicts and assists with supervisor training.
Stress has been in business for 36 years, and has grown 15% annually to more than 250 employees. The company is a leader in engineering design, testing and analysis for high-performance energy industry structures, vessels, machines and processes.
The “Best Companies to Work for in Texas” survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in Texas. Companies from across the state entered a two-part process that included an evaluation of each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, followed by a survey to measure the employee experience. The actual rankings have been published in a special advertorial section in the February 2009 issue of TEXAS MONTHLY and the ranked companies recognized at a gala awards luncheon on January 28, 2009 in Austin.
