SES and iGPS Logistics Nominated for the Refocus Sustainability Innovation Award
The nominated project demonstrates an environmentally friendly circular economy, in which single-use plastic oil containers are redirected from landfills to processing centers that separate the oil and bottle materials for new applications. Recycling oil is a well-understood process, but the process of recycling plastic from single-use oil containers is not. Two technologies have been demonstrated to effectively remove oil from the bottle waste-stream so that the resultant plastic material is useable for new products. This material meets the technical requirements for plastic pallets, and iGPS Logistics, the nation’s leading provider of plastic pooling pallet solutions, is committed to reducing plastic waste.
With expertise from Stress Engineering Services, iGPS has used plastic reclaimed via this process and is producing plastic pallets that are lighter, safer, more durable, and produce less greenhouse emissions than traditional wood pallets.
The Refocus Sustainability Innovation Awards are part of the Refocus Sustainability & Recycling Summit which is the premier event in sustainable plastics manufacturing. Every year, the most influential thought leaders across the plastics supply chain come together to discover new ways to use recycled plastics, take advantage of new end markets, and push sustainability in manufacturing forward.
The Refocus Sustainability Innovation Awards provide a platform for sharing and celebrating some of the great work being done across the globe to push sustainability in manufacturing forward. The awards recognize the efforts applied to change cultures, execute new strategies, and build true partnerships to drive new products and solutions across the plastics industry.
